Many handy men have a drill press in their garage for all purpose drilling (Check http://drillpress-reviews.info here). It comes in handy for a variety of different tasks. Basically, a drill press is a large apparatus that includes its own attached stand, and drills downward onto a table. The user would set the material to be drilled on the table, and the drill bit moves downward through it. The table that holds the material has various holes in it so the drill can go through it without any damage. The average drill press can make drilling with precision very easy.

A drill press can come in a variety of sizes and powers. Many of these offer variable speeds to drill through different materials. The power of a common drill press can vary from ½ horsepower to 1 horsepower, with ¾ horsepower being the middle ground. The higher the  horsepower, the faster and more powerfully the drill press can spin. A drill press with 1 horsepower can be used to drill through tougher and thicker material. Rosewood, brass, and iron are no match for these drills. Keep in mind, that many of these drills can get heavy. A standard one can weigh at least 200 lbs, so the user must bring the material to the drill, not vice versa.

Delta is one of the main manufacturers of these drills. They produce the full range of horsepower options, and even make a 1 ½ horsepower version for the truly heavy duty projects. A good example of what Delta offers is the Delta 17-950L. This drill press is ¾ horsepower, provides a cool and smooth running motor, and even offers a beveling base that can be used to drill material at an angle. Due to the smooth running engine, the user wont really have to worry about any rattling, therefore ensuring accuracy of the drill. Some delta models even include an laser cross hair for even more accuracy. This particular drill press sells for about $400. The price ranges for Delta's models range from $200 all the way up to $11,500.

Northern Industrial is another large drill press maker. The power range for a Northern Industrial drill press is from 1/3 horsepower all the way up to 1 ½ horsepower. A good example is model number 155301. This is a ½ horsepower bench drill press that can be adjusted to 5 different speeds. It also includes the laser cross hair guide for improved accuracy. This particular drill press can be found on the Northern Tool website for $140. The type of drill press that Northern Industrial makes can vary from $70 for a mini version to $550 for their most powerful model.

These tools are a wonderful edition to any person's garage workshop, or any builder's warehouse. The precision exercised by these presses allow for incredible accuracy for building projects. The user can have all of their holes exact, which will create a beautiful and excellent finished product. Anyone who has drilling needs, consider getting a drill press.
